INTECO’s participation in the new Christian-Doppler (CD) Laboratory

After the successful execution of the previous CD Laboratory focusing on Electro Slag Remelting (ESR), INTECO is proud to announce the participation in another CD Laboratory led again by the „Department of Simulation and Modeling of Metallurgical Processes“ of the Montanuniversity Leoben.

This CD lab and cooperation is planned for the next seven years and will significantly contribute to maintain INTECO´s technological leadership in melting, refining and solidification processes of high performance quality steels and super-alloys.

This time the focus lies on the research activities in the field of Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) and its influence on various metallurgical processes which are key to INTECO´s core products. INTECO contributes in two separate modules, „Metal Refining by MHD in the Vacuum Arc Remelting process“ and „MHD in Electric Arc Furnaces“. The results obtained from these research projects will give a better understanding of these two processes and ultimately give a valuable input in optimized process control and design aspects of the furnaces.
